I don’t know if you guys watch Arrested Development at all, but their season finale last Sunday showed why this show is one of the best on television, period.
From the completely awkward moments between Michael Bluth and his brother, Gob, to the weird somewhat-erotic relationship between Michael Jr. and his cousin Maeby to the completely self-centered matriarch of the family, Lucille, this show is ridiculously hilarious. If you have a Blockbuster by you or if you are down for getting a new DVD box set, you have to get the first season of Arrested Development. It’s awesome!
In other news…
Those of you who know me know that I was diagnosed with having gall stones a few weeks back. It’s been a real bitch (especially not having any health insurance). Not only was I on a low-calorie diet to begin with, but now I’m on a low-calorie, low-to-no fat diet as well. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get some health insurance soon so I can get this gall bladder thing taken care of and maybe have a real meal!
Another problem that I’ve been facing has been with finding a summer placement for my mandatory “Applied Field Experience.” The AFE is more or less a high-end internship for the summer. I hoped to work somewhere in Monmouth County working on some redevelopment projects, but that never came to fruition. My next best alternative was to accept a position with Roxbury Township, but it turns out that the position they were accepting me for was not in-line with the AFE requirements by any means. So, just when it seemed like I was shit out of luck and on the brink of not fulfilling this requirement for my Masters Degree, I found a connection to a local councilman.
He has connected me with a Trenton-based non-profit group (that I won’t name here) that specializes in bringing commercial developers to areas already dedicated as redevelopment zones. Sounds like a great place for me to get some experience at, but we’ll just wait and see if I get a call back. The pain of the entire situation? I need to get that call within the next week in order to make the AFE feasible for this summer…
